MEO Youth Services, 3rd Annual Girl Power Conference
MEO Youth Services, Girl’s program participants and staff were among the 500 attendees at the 3rd Annual Girl Power Conference on Oahu, October 20, 2007. The conference is put on to encourage girls to hold on to their voices, and stay true to themselves, enhance judgment and critical thinking skills for wise and healthy choices, and to improve their self esteem. We are very grateful here at MEO Youth Services to have the opportunity to be apart of this unique group. This is a new initiative for the Youth Services Program. Starting a gender specific program for girls and boys has opened the door for new possibilities.

Youth Services walks for funds
MEO YouthBank has been a beneficiary of the financial awards each year. It is a procedure of the Charity Walk that all money raised by a participating agency through sponsorships is returned to the agency as part of the beneficiary award. That money is in addition to receiving a portion of the funds that are raised by the hotels on behalf of Maui’s Charities.
A particularly good reason for participating is that they receive stipends for their community service set-up work, as they do for other work experiences through the year, like the Cameron Center Bazaar and the Senior Fair. In fact the money from the Charity Walk beneficiary award is earmarked to help provide for stipends for other work projects that they will undertake.
Most YouthBank members are from low income families, finding it very difficult to seek sponsorship.
If you want to sponsor a youth make a check out to MEO indicating charity walk in the bottom corner. Send it c/o YouthBank. We will provide a receipt and a description of the use of your sponsorship.
