Domestic Violence Forum - Informational Forum for the Hispanic Community

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
LIHEAP is a Federal program that provides energy assistance once a year. Maui County residents who are eligible can qualify for one of two different programs: Gas or Electric Bill Payment Assistance - A one time energy credit deposited into the electric or gas accounts of a low income eligible household; Energy Crisis intervention - A one time financial assistance of up to $200.00 deposited into the electric or gas accounts of a low income eligible household whose electric or gas, has been or will be shut off. Commercial Kitchen and Retail Space Available
The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Residential Training Center has a 1,060 square foot licensed commercial kitchen for lease. The kitchen comes with refrigerator, walk in freezer, gas stove, mixer, convection oven, deep fryer and commercial dishwasher. In addition to the kitchen, there is a 1,840 square foot retail space that can be used as a dining area or for retail sales.
Interested operators must be willing to provide training for two MEO clients (trainees) in each twelve month period of the lease. Operators must expose the trainees to all aspects of the operation and must pay minimum wage during the training period. The Operator may be eligible for wage reimbursements of 50% of the trainee’s wages through a Federal On the Job Training (OJT) funding assistance program for a three month period. Should the operator choose to hire the trainee after the training period; the operator agrees to pay the employee a comparable industry wage.

 "Be A Jerk" is a statewide campaign to stop underage drinking by urging parents and other adults to Be a Jerk when it comes to letting teens drink alcohol. The campaign is geared toward getting the whole community involved in changing the environment that contributes to alcohol abuse. Download calendar of events.
