Must be interested in making Maui a safer place to live. Willing to commit to mentoring for one year. Applicant must be kind, caring, supportive, a good listener, sound moral character and willing to make a difference in someone’s life. Does this sound like you??? Maui Economic Opportunity’s - B.E.S.T. Reintegration Program (Being Empowered and Safe Together) needs volunteers to serve as mentors for inmates at Maui Community Correctional Facility.
Here are the Facts: 80% of inmates enter jail with substance abuse problems Many have experienced abuse, neglect, broken families, substance abuse and lack of guidance. Nationwide, 67% of persons released return to jail due to lack of support.
You can make the difference between success and failure by sharing your time(only about two hours per month) and guiding someone to become a productive member of our Maui community.
