Urgent message for Maui Economic Opportunity's Disabled Passengers
As of July 1st MEO will no longer be responsible for the transportation of many of Maui’s disabled community under the Ala Hou program in Central, South and West Maui. The Maui Bus will instead be providing that service as the ADA Paratransit program. There are several important changes that disabled passengers need to be aware of.
Disabled passengers will be required to register with the County’s Department of Transportation even if they were registered with MEO. Eligibility, limitations and registration processes are different than the current MEO Ala Hou program. Also as of July 1st the county will also begin charging disabled passengers on the Maui Bus ADA Paratransit one dollar per ride, including routes that previously were free in Central and West Maui.
